3 to 4 pin Molex power connectorHave a 3-pin device such as case fans and CPU heat sink coolers (HSF), but ran out of the 3-pin male power connectors on your motherboard? No problem. Purchase this adapter, which will convert a 3-pin molex connector to a 4-pin (male or female) pass-through power connector. In other words, you are able to connect the 3-pin device to a regular power supply connector. Two 4-pin connectors are included, one male and one female. Another application for this item: The 12V power supplied through the motherboard is limited in comparison with that directly from the power supply. It is highly recommended that some of the high-performance case fans/coolers be connected directly to a power supply. You may not be able to do that if your fan comes with a 3-pin connector - unless you purchase this adapter. More and more PC components nowadays come with 3-pin power supply cables. This adapter / converter allows you to connect a 3 pin connector to a 4 pin power source. OEM package. Suggested retail price: 9.99+tax. Notes: (1) Black wires are for ground. Yellow and black wires provide 12V DC voltage. Red and black wires provide 5V DC voltage. Yellow and red wires provide 7V DC voltage. (2) Directron.com has a $10 minimum-order requirement. You may select other <$10 items and select more other <$10 items to meet the requirement. (3) This item cannot be used to adapt a 4-pin connector on a fan to a 3-pin without adding a gender changer on the 3-pin connector. (4) If you have a temperature sensor on your 3-pin fan, you may lose that function by using this adapter unless a 3-way splitter is purchased and used together with this product. (ud031304mp) Warning: This adapter comes with a 4-pin extender plug. Be careful when plugging the 4-pin male plug to the power supply. Check the polarity of the plug before using it! There is only one correct way to plug it in. Reversing it may result in reversed voltages (12V to 5V and 5V to 12V) provided to the extender plug, which, if used, may damage devices such as hard drives, CD-ROM, DVD, and CDRW drives.
