IBM ThinkPlus USB 2.0 Portable 24x/24x/24x CD-RW & 8x DVD-ROM Combo II Drive, Model: 40Y8637A "must have" for the ThinkPad X Series notebook user. The ThinkPlus USB 2.0 Portable CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo II Drive reads both DVD and CD media and writes to CD media. No external power adapter is required for read/write operations when it is connected to a single USB 2.0 port on ThinkPad notebooks.
