Get out
the Dremel again
Set the
LED holders in the holes, and hold the project box up the faceplate. You will
see that the project box takes up more room than the LED's allow. Use a pencil,
and mark the area that needs to be cut out for the LED's to fit correctly. Get
out the Dremel, or your tool of choice, and grind down the project box until
it fits flush against the faceplate.

Once ya?
have it fit correctly, place the LED's in the holders, and place the clips on.
Take the project box, and put the switches through the holes on the faceplate,
place the washers and nuts on, connect the LED cables…Voila.
Mission
Accomplished
It's quite
a feeling when you make something like this and it WORKS. Unless you have like
20-watt, 500cfm fans, you should be able attach all your fans to this thing.
I get a
lot of questions about rheostats or dual voltage, and I always tell them I prefer
rheostats over a dual voltage unit. I stick with this answer, even after having
made several more dual voltage units. Rheostats are easier to setup, allow much
more control over fans than the dual module. The only things I prefer about
the dual system, is that they can use blue LED's to make it look a little cooler,
and they don't take up as much room.
As with
any mod, I hope you had fun during this project, and personnally, I had a few
moments in which it was more frusterating than fun, so don't get discouraged
if you screw up. I went through three project boxes on this one :)
I mentioned
this in my last article, but I am thinking of producing rheostat and dual voltage
Baybuses. I would like your feedback on this, as it is up to you guys. As always,
you can email me at: cole_NOSPAM@directron.us (remove _NOSPAM manually) if you have problems,
and be sure to check out the store while you're here. I received a TON of response
from the Rheostat article, and I've thought about this, and if I can whip up
a way to do these faster, this may be an avenue...either way, tell me what'cha
think.
Here are
some more pics..
Have a good
one, let me know if you have any comments,
questions, etc.
