It should be compatible with almost any board that has front usb capability. (2) You do not need to have a smart media / compact flash / etc header on the board to use this device, only a free usb header. (3) Soyo Bayone Extreme can also be a detachable flash card reader / writer that connects via USB cable externally. (4) No IEEE 1394 / firewire connection.
