Employeement Opportunities
There are various employment opportunities with Hua Xia. The availability varies from time to time. The positions include the following:
Teachers
We require educational background and teaching experience in the subject a teacher intends to teach.
Staff
Office Manager/Secretary: Two-year term, starting in August 2001. Renewable through selection by the Principal. Elected by and reports to the Principal and Associate Principal(s). Qualifications: Must be dedicated to community services and education. Accounting background highly desirable but not necessary. Good communication skills. Fluent in Chinese speaking and writing required. Fluent in English speaking and writing desired. Typing in English and Chinese highly desirable. Teaching experience and familiarity with Hua Xia operations desirable but not required. Responsible for bookkeeping, filing, preparing teaching materials, assisting Principal and Associate Principal, and teachers, coordinating other School staff, receiving guests when needed. Working hours: 9 hours on Saturdays and at least 4 hours during weekdays. Pay scale: at least $6 per hour for Saturday hours, depending on experience; weekday hourly rate is variable, depending on attendance, individual performance, and School financial performance.
Executives
Principal: Two-year term, starting in August 2001. Renewable through election by the School Board of Directors. Elected by and reports to School Board of Directors. Qualifications: Must be an excellent leader. Must be dedicated to community services and education. Must be able to manage people and organize events. Must have great communication and interpersonal skills. Fluent in Chinese and English speaking and writing. Teaching experience and familiarity with Hua Xia operations highly desirable but not required. Capability to obtain external funding and donation is highly desirable. Experience in writing proposals and organize fund-raising activities desired. Responsible for the overall management of the School, particularly, the financial well-being of the School, hiring and managing Associate Principals, teachers and staff including raises and evaluation, and coordinating classes with the Associate Principal. Also responsible for student enrolment campaign, School's PR, marketing, fund-raising functions, and special events. Will be a member of the School Board of Directors, a volunteer position. Working hours: 9 hours on Saturdays and at least 11 hours during weekdays. Pay scale: at least $10 per hour for Saturday hours, depending on experience; weekday hourly rate is variable, depending on attendance, individual performance, and School financial performance. Additional performance based pay is optional as a result of any external funding. Candidates must prepare a two-page written proposal on how to lead Hua Xia in the next two years.
Associate Principals (2-3): Two-year terms, starting in August 2001. Renewable through selection by the Principal. Elected by Principal and approved by School Board of Directors. Reports to the Principal. Qualifications: Must be dedicated to community services and education. Must work together with the Principal to lead and organize the School. Must have great communication and interpersonal skills. Fluent in Chinese and English speaking and writing. Teaching experience and familiarity with Hua Xia operations required. Responsible for School's daily operations, class assignment, and coordination of teachers. Functions in the capacity of the Principal during Principal's absence. Manage operations and activities on assigned campus. Work hours: 9 hours on Saturdays and at least 4 hours during weekdays. Pay scale: at least $10 per hour for Saturday hours, depending on experience; weekday hourly rate is variable, depending on attendance, individual performance, and School financial performance. Additional performance based pay is optional as a result of any external funding.
