The only problem I've had with this merchant is that store.yahoo.com doesn't seem to work with mozilla or opera. The shipment was exactly as ordered, a day early, and packaged better than I could have hoped. On Friday March 2 at aprox 1:30 pm CST from my cell phone, I placed an order with Ken at phone number 713-773-3636 for 2 Enermax 431 power supplies, 2 power cords, and 4 y connectors. Ken advised becaue he had to rush to get the order in as they only had 4 left he would take the info and I would have to trust him that it would be done. I was not given an order number. Today March 5th. I find that 2 charges fromt the houston are have been put on my card. I talked with Michael and severl other people at the same number (michael stated he was president) and they are unable to find my order or any info on anythig being shipped to me. The two charges are one for 184.60 and one for 274.00. The items I am purchasing have a price of Enermax 431 cost 84.00 each,(i orderd 2) power cords 1.00 each ( iorderd 2) y connectors 2.00 each ( i ordered 4). As you can see there is not way this totaled to two chargres. I can see the 184.60 for the above plus shipping ups ground. But not the secound charge. But the store has no record. The only problem so far I have is that they tell you on thier site that order confirmation is sent out immediately yet I didn't recieve one, after 4 hours I called support to confirm order reciept and was told items should be sent that day, recieved confirmation 7 hours later. The only problem I had was an item that was placed on backorder. I specified for them to call me if a backorder had to be made and they failed to. I ended up having to make two trips across Houston to get all my items, but overall I am satisfied with their service. Everyone is entitled to mistakes. The delivery was very quick, and my only complaint is that I didn't receive an email when my purchases had been shipped. I was impressed by the selection (I was looking for a good looking, good quality full tower case -- in black -- at a fair price.) and appreciated the overall layout of the company's website. Ordered items on a Sunday (8-20-00)to be shipped by Fed Ex. On Wednesday (8-23-00) received email that the items were backordered with option to cancel. I cancelled order. Friday (8-25-00)receive an email that partial order was sent to me. I wrote email again explaining that I already cancelled the order. THEY IGNORED ALL OF MY EMAILS (about 4). Had to warn them with an email that I was going to contac my credit card Co. to report the case if they did'nt answer me in 1 day. Amazingly they finally did answer to this email (8-29-00)saying "No problem, your order has been canceled." No apologies or nothing. Also they charged my credit card for the full amount the same day that I placed the order not like most of the reliable places wich charge the credit card when the order is sent. They did refund my money back a couple of days after their last email. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Thought this was a great site!! I ordered my case and I must say that I was impressed with the number of options they provided specific to my purchase of a case. They offered specific purchases including stickers, plates, fans, etc. The notes/commenst on the product were very unexpected and delightful, I'd never seen that on a site before. The comments allowed me to feel more confident that this was the case I wanted, and informed me of the few and negligible minor problems with the case. It's obvious to me that there is someone who knows their computers and keeps up to date with the latest information working behind the scenes. I'd definitely consider buying most future components here in spite of the fact that they don't offer the incredibly cheap shipping and product prices that some other companies provide. The company needs to fix its shopping cart. They offer free products for certain money orders, but no way to get them into the shopping cart. They offer discounts for signing up on certain days, again with no way to get them into the shopping cart. And of course, if its not in the shopping cart, they won't honor anything. I found the website to be very accessible and the overall feel of the site to be open, informative, and full featured. For some inexplicable reason, this site 'feels' better than many others. I had many options as to who to deal with, some of which were significantly cheaper, but I choose directron.com because I wouldn't have felt right ordering from a different site. This goes back to a concept that many people do not seem to understand -- responsible consumerism. Whenever you make a purchase, you are both supporting the company you are buying from, and more specifically, NOT supporting every other company that offers the same product. In regards to the debates over Microsoft's position in the computer world -- we put them there. Every consumer that uses a Microsoft product put them there. The consumer has always had a choice as to what product they use or purchase. This is why I choose to deal with directron.com. Worst e-business order ever. After waiting 9 days for my replacement hard drive (the first one being defective and taking 8 days to arrive) I found though tracing on my own that the replacement order had been REJECTED. I ordered a CD-rom drive that was described on Directron's web site as "OEM with drivers." The product arrived without the driver, so I sent an email to customer support. This was after checking the product description at least twice to verify it said "OEM with drivers." After receiving my inquiry, Directron altered the web page description to say "OEM." They then had the nerve to send me a response saying "I didn't find any mention of drivers" and a link to the altered product description. The same product was listed by Directron on Yahoo's site as "OEM with driver." I informed Yahoo of Directron's attempted deception and provided them a link to the product description. That description has now been altered to read just "OEM." My problem was that I ordered a hard disk using their website and told them I would pick it up as I live in Houston. When I arrived they did not have what I ordered. This started a little shuffle of their offering another and then another at a higher price than the original purchase. Finally they said they did not have any more WD drives. Lousy customer service after the sale. Customer support practically non-existant. Won't answer e-mails. Can never talk to the same person when you call on non-toll free number. Always get the answer that they will check with someone else and have them get in touch. Paid for 3 dqay select shipping, directron shipped regular ground. Haven't been able to get refund or credit. Sent back defective motherboard for exchange. Directron signed for on 7/30/99. I still haven't received replacement (8/14/99). No one at directron can tell me status.
