Where can I find this file? Some pre-4.28 versions of the 4-in-1 driver contained VIAGART drivers that were not recognized by some Windows Operating Systems. The VIAGART.CAT file is simply a small verification file that allows Microsoft to recognize the version of the VIAGART file. It has no impact on system performance or compatibility so is not needed. How can I do a silent or unattended install of the VIA 4in1 drivers? This method is ONLY for OEMs and system integrators who are setting up lots of PCs. There are 3 methods: Method 1: Run "setup -b -s ". It will install the relative information of chipset automatically on your system. It will copy the inf file to the '\WINDOWS\INF\' and remove the related registry tree and then reboot the system. The order of parameter can not be violated, it must be "-b -s". Method 2: Run "setup -s". The same effect as Method 1 except the system will not reboot. Method 3: Click the SETUP.EXE program then it will install the relative information of chipset automatically on your system. It will copy the inf file "ViaMach.inf" to the '\WINDOWS\INF\' and remove the related registry tree and then select "Restart" or "Restart later". Installation of the 4in1 drivers freezes right at the end. If you have beta versions of drivers, such as beta Nvidia drivers on your system, then you must remember that they are not Microsoft certified and may conflict with other drivers, such as the 4in1 drivers. Resolutions: 1) Try installing in safe mode 2) Remove the beta drivers by changing your video card drivers to standard VGA drivers, instal the 4in1 drivers and then reinstall the Nvidia drivers How can I tell what VIA drivers I have installed? Open Start - Run and type in "regedit" (without the apostrophe marks). Double clikc HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then SOFTWARE and check the listing under VIA and/or VIA4in1Driver. I get the following message upon bootup. VIA Query registry content failed. Go to Start> All Programs> Start Up> and delete the VIA IDE Tool from Start up.
