Frequently Asked Questions about Acer SoundSome internet programs that deal with voice communications require that the sound card in your computer be Full Duplex. To check if your sound card is full duplex, do the following: 1.Make sure you have a microphone attached to your computer. Position the microphone 4 to 6 inches to the front of one of your speakers. 2.Turn the computer on and allow it to boot to Windows. Click the Start button and choose Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, and then Sound Recorder. 3.Repeat step 1 to open a second copy of the Sound Recorder. This will place another instance of the program over the first. 4.Move the second copy of Sound Recorder to the right of or below the first copy. Do this by placing your cursor over the title bar (top) of the program, left click once on it and hold the click, then drag the window to where you want it and release the mouse button. 5.In the first Sound recorder window, click File then Open to open a sound file. In the Open window: 6.Click the Record button on the second Sound Recorder program. 7.Press Play on the first. If it records onto the second program and you can play it back, it's full duplex. 8.If you get an error, the card is not full duplex. (Source:ACER) Related Items: | PCI Sound Cards | |
