Cool 'n' Quiet no function on CPU frequency.
PC shutsdown for once before restart.
PC does not Wake up from 2nd LAN under S5 mode.
Kaspersky anti-virus lincense period too short (Ver 6.0).
I want to use Cool 'n' Quiet function to save power, however the CPU frequency is stable at the highest speed. It should be down when CPU small loading. How to solve that?
- Answer:
Please make sure the following settings are all right:
1. The CPU should support Cool 'n' Quiet. Note: Sampron CPU lower then 3000+ may not support Cool 'n' Quiet.
2. Enable Cool 'n' Quiet in BIOS-->Advanced-->CPU Configuration. If no this option, that means your CPU may not support this function. Or please try to update BIOS to fix.
3. Install Cool 'n' Quiet utility according to operating system
4.
a.Vista system: Power Settings(in Control Panel or Screen Saver settins)--> Change Plan Settings (OR create a power plan)-->Change advanced power settings-->Processor power management: Minimum processor state setting: 5% (lower than 100%). Balance mode already has the default value 5%.
b.XP system: Power Options(in Control Panel or Screen Saver settings)-->Power Schemes-->Minimal Power Management
c. Windows 2000 or Windows ME: AMD Cool 'n' Quiet tab will appear under Power Options-->Performance:Automatic Mode

My PC always turns off and on again every time after exiting from BIOS by choosing "Save and Exit". I found this phenomenon only occurs when I use AMD Phenom series CPU. After swapping CPU to an Athlon CPU, the phenomenon went away. Is this normal?
- Answer:
Yes, this is normal behavior of this particular motherboard. As we know that AMD Phenom series CPUs are multi-processor designed, in order to support AMD Down Core function, BIOS needs to take a full reset which behaves like a shutdown before restarting.
I have found that my PC is not able to perform WOL (wake on LAN) from S5 mode via the 2nd LAN device. However, the first LAN device works fine under all sleep mode(S3/S4/S5) and the 2nd LAN device also works fine under S3 mode and S4 mode. How do I resolve this issue?
- Answer:
Please go to Device Manager in Windows OS, and right click device "Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller", choose Properties and go to "Advanced" tab. Please set the value of option "Wake from shutdown" to "on" and click OK. This should enable WOL from S5 mode for the 2nd LAN device.
The license period of the bundled Kaspersky Anti-Virus utility seem to be shorter than a year. How do I resolve this issue?
- Answer:
The motherboards bundled version calculates its license period by a set date instead of the date of software installation. To resolve this license period issue, please download a new Kaspersky Anti-Virus Key available on ASUS support website. This new Key will change license calculation algorithm, and extend your license period to one year from the date of software installation.
Please follow the link below to download the new Key:

Note 1: As this is an upgrade package, you will need the original version on your support CD pre-installed onto your system prior executing this upgrade.
Note 2: Please check the your Kaspersky version before you install it.
Note 3: For the installation procedures, please refer to the following page: http://www.kaspersky.com/support/kis6mp1/key?qid=193239273
