Step-1 Preparing the cooler:
When you take the super orb out of the box you will
notice that there is a small amount of thermal interface
material on the bottom. This material will be protected
by a small piece of plastic that you will need to remove before installation. Before you can install the cooler you
must check the bottom of the cooler, and remove any
foreign objects that may be there. Do this by brushing
it with a smooth clean cloth.
Step-2 Preparing the motherboard:
To properly install the cooler your motherboard needs to be on a flat hard surface. A good way to do this is to mount your motherboard in the computer case and then proceed with installing the cooler. Next you should put the chrome orb cooler up to the CPU socket. This is to make sure that the cooler will fit your particular motherboard.
Step-3 Mounting the Super Orb Cooler:
Take the cooler in your hand, holding it from the top. Tilt the Super Orb so that the side with three holes on the clip will go in the slugs of the socket. The slugs are the small knots on either side of the socket. Insert a flat head screwdriver through the hole on the other side of the metal clip. Push down on the clip with the screwdriver until the hole on the clip snaps into place, over the slug. *Note-When installing any of the cooler, do not apply force to the cooler itself. Only apply force to the metal clip. Applying force to the cooler itself could cause you to crush the CPU die.
Step-4 Connecting power to the fan:
Connecting power to the fan of the Super Orb is very
simple. Take the power cord and attach it to the three-pin fan header that is near the socket. In the case of the Super Orb there are two power cords to connect. If you only have on fan header on your motherboard then you will need to use the converter that comes with the Super Orb. This will allow you to plug one power cord into a four-pin connector. If you are not sure, please, consult your motherboard manual.
Make sure that the Super Orb is mounted flatly on the CPU. If the cooler is not on straight then it will not work properly. Make sure the Super Orb is mounted tight to the CPU. This way the cooler is making good contact with the CPU. Make sure that the Super Orb itself is not touching anything else besides the CPU. If it is touching any of the capacitor could ruin your motherboard. Also, make sure the fan is connected and is working.
Be careful, not to press too hard when mounting the cooler. You can also use your finger to apply force to the cooler clip if you don't feel comfortable using a screwdriver.
