The dehydrated leaves give one a faulse sense of a fall season.

All the "sculpture" pictures were taken within 1-2 miles of my house while I don't see any serious damages to houses. You have to wonder the trees are not really designed for winds. They are designed to maximize the sunlight exposure and perhaps shades.
If these big trees are of high economic value, some may be "stablized" in preparation for a hurricane.
Today, I got a chance to drive around Sugar Land a little and saw the falling trees all over the city. On Lexington street, there are many trees hitting people's fences.

Most of these trees on Lexington are of the same type.

When I was driving on Dulles in Sugar Land on Sunday, I saw a cleaner that had a metal roof totally blown off. You can see the sky from their office/cleaning room. I assume that all of their equipment and the clothes customers left there are damaged.
Side Effects of Hurricane Ike
Traffic On Monday morning, it took me one hour and half to get from home to the office because of the traffic. Normally it takes about 20 minutes. Monday was probably the first day for school and work for many people. It seems all of us tried to get onto the highway at the same time.
I got onto 59 and it was jammed from Highway 6. I turned around and drove up on 6 to get to Westpark Toll Way. When I got there, the Toll Way was packed too. I stayed on the service road of Harwin but that was jammed too. I drove down to Bellaire. It had fewer cars but all the lights were not working so it was stop and go all the way to Beltway. When it was all said and done, it was one and half hours later.
Mosquitoes: Hurricane Ike brought us allot of rain. With it comes a growing population of mosquitoes. They will bite you like crazy if you go outside in the morning or evening.

All the power is "restored" in our office/warehouse
We got power in our office since Tuesday; but one corner of our office and two warehouse ceiling lights were still missing power. We asked an electrician to check it last week and he couldn't find the reason why. As a result, we had to buy quite a few portable light fixtures for lunchroom, repair shop, and two restrooms.
Today, when Adam was asking about it, it prompted me to double check the transformer and the switches. I found one switch was not turned on. After I turned it on, we got the power back to this section of the office and the warehouse ceiling lights.
Including the AC to my office. :):):)
Another side effect of Ike: We are all becoming electricians, roofers, contractors...
