Explosive Hardware Reviews 13 Motherboards: ABIT on Top (IT7-MAX2V20 , BE7-RAID )!
(april 7,2003)
2003-Top hardware site Explosive Hardware has recently completed a mammoth 13 motherboard roundup of boards based on the 845PE chipset. The results? One Editor's Choice for the ABIT IT7 MAX 2 and an honourable mention for the BE7-RAID.
"I should mention that the ABIT IT7-MAX2 2.0 and the BE7-RAID are fully prepped to OC 800FSB processors, as they have instituted additional power phases. The ABIT IT7-MAX2 2.0 has 4 and the BE7-RAID has 3. No other boards in this roundup to our knowledge have that capability, as the rest are situated with 2. For the purposes of this roundup, we have put aside this feature in our judgment for awarding. This, so that those two boards would be easier to compared to their peers. Otherwise, ABIT could have easily scurried off with our Editor's Choice Award twice!"

7 nForce2 motherboard round-up
(april 3,2003)
Dual channel arcitecture has really started to catch on. Nvidia, being the first company to deliver this technology to the masses, now brings us nForce2. The big brother to the ill fated original nForce chipset that never quite did what it was hyped to. NForce2 however not only picks up the ball, but runs it in for a touchdown. Currently the fastest platform for AMD chips, nForce2 has really delivered, and right when Nvidia needed it.
Although the Via KT400a chipset is right around the corner. Tests have still shown that the nForce2 still holds a slight (approx 3%) lead. Over the past couple weeks, TheCrucible has been testing every nForce2 mother board that we could get our hands on. A total of seven boards were tested from the following manufacturers: Abit, Asus, Chaintech, EPoX, Leadtek, MSI (Microstar), and Soltek. All boards were run through a series of severe tests. And in TheCrucible tradition we overclocked these babies until they screamed. The results may surprise you.
I chose not to delve into the dual channel vs. single channel side of things, as I feel that most people that buy an nForce2 board will choose to run in dual channel mode. I will post a short comparison of a couple benchmarks at the end of the review.

ABIT Engineered Motherboards Support the New AMD Athlon XP 333 and 400 MHz Barton CPUs
(april 3,2003)
AMD has just announced their latest 333 FSB CPUs, the Barton 2500+, 2800+, 2900+ and 3000+, as well as the 400 MHz FSB Barton 3000+ and 3200+. ABIT's ABIT Engineered AMD motherboard line is ready for these industry leading high-performance CPUs.
AMD's new 3000+ Barton processors feature 640KB of total on-chip cache, an increase of nearly 70 percent, which leads the industry for desktop PC processors. More cache allows additional information to be stored closer to the processor, helping to speed up the retrieval of information that benefits applications such as those used in editing video, creating digital media effects and encoding music, as well as typical office productivity and gaming applications.
With support for the latest AMD Barton cored processors, ABIT's legendary AT7 MAX2, versatile KD7 series and multimedia-ready NF7 series gives the high performance platform for your specific needs.
