ASUS Motherboards Support Intel~{!/~}s Latest 3.06GHz P4 and Hyper-Threading Technology

In accordance to Intel's introduction of the 3.06GHz Pentium 4 on November 14, the first desktop CPU to exceed the 3GHz barrier, ASUSTeK Computer Inc, offers a series of motherboards to support the all-new CPU and Hyper-threading (HT) Technology.

ASUS motherboards based on the 845PE, 845GE, 845E and 850E chipsets can accommodate the 3.06GHz Pentium 4 and HT Technology right out of the box. For easy identification, packages of ASUS motherboards supporting 3GHz P4 and HT Technology will include the Intel "Hyper-Threading Technology" logo.

Motherboards of the four chipset lines manufactured prior to October do not support the new Intel technologies right out of the box, but ASUS has provided new BIOS for users to upgrade their systems. Simply download the latest BIOS from the ASUS company website and enjoy a superior computing experience.

MSI today unveiled its new GNB Max mainboard en par with Intel's launch of its E7205 chipset, previously code-named Granite Bay. The GNB Max mainboard is designed to provide the highest performance and the most scalable chipset solution for the latest Socket 478 Intel Pentium 4 processors. This workstation / high-end desktop chipset supports 400 and 533MHz Quad Pumped Bus of the Pentium 4 processors, can take advantage of the Hyper-Threading technology support, provides AGP 8x and Dual-Channel PC1600/2100 DDR SDRAM memory. The peak bandwidth offered by dual-channel PC2100 is 4.2GB per second, exactly equals to 533MHz Quad-pumped Pentium 4 bus. The North Bridge (or MCH) features the ICH4 I/O controller, supporting USB 2.0 and other necessary features.

Hardware Test Gives ABIT Siluro GF4 Ti4200 OTES, Excellent Product Award

When performance is the order of the day, there's nothing quite like owning a piece of ABIT Engineering. A good example is ABIT's OTES VGA cooling system, which has been winning award after award since its introduction. Recently, Hardware Test took a close look at the Siluro GF4 Ti4200 OTES, and with its revolutionary coolinhg system, awarded it with their Excellent Product Award.

Hardware Test takes some time to outline what OTES is: "The card has the biggest cooler I've ever seen. But what does OTES mean? OTES means Outside Thermal Exhaust System. The principle of such a device is that the chip heats up the heatsink base that is soldered to a tube with a certain liquid. When heated up, the liquid evaporates, and its vapor carries heat to the tubular radiator on the fan's left. This fan is cooled down with a strong airflow created with a turbine-like fan with the liquid condensing in the tube, and the process starts anew."
