NEC Launches XGA Plasma Monitors Equipped With 'Digital AccuDevice'(102003)
- New PlasmaSync(TM) 61XM2/50XM3/42XM2 -
TOKYO, October 20th, 2003 - NEC Plasma Display Corporation today announced the launch of 42-inch, 50-inch and jumbo 61-inch wide XGA plasma monitors equipped with NEC's own new 'Digital AccuDevice', a digital signal processing engine. The monitors will go on gradual sale worldwide by year end with different release dates for each region. Full supply will be achieved by start of 2004 targeting 25% of the world commercial market share.
Primary features of the new monitors.
(1) 'Digital AccuDevice' enables slim, high quality wide XGA plasma monitors by realizing full digital sampling of all input signals through digital signal processing.
(2) 'Mass Area Superior Sampling Technology' delivers high quality progressive imaging and smooth reproduction resulting in extra fine, clear color.
(3) Industry's maximum color gradation, 4,096, realized by '-12'(gamma-12), a 12 bit conversion technology for gamma correction.
(4)170% improvement of contrast ratio as compared with the current model.* Applies to PlasmaSync TM 61XM2 only.
(5)Improved functions: (I) NEC's own advanced timer function that can be programmed to switch different input and activate image burn reduction tools at a specific time. (II) Auto ID function and PLE link function for multi-screen systems. (III) 4032 pattern digital zoom function.
NEC Plasma Display Corporation's plasma monitors are used for a variety of purposes including multimedia presentations at corporations and educational facilities, in addition to information terminals at boutiques, retail shops, shopping centers, airports and railways. To date NEC Plasma Display Corporation has offered two distinguished product lines to meet these needs. However, the new PlasmaSyncTM series demonstrates all the specialized functions (including digital zoom, advanced timer and PLE link functions for nine or four screen multi-systems) required for both public information terminals and muti-media presentation displays providing customers with better solutions to fulfill their diversified needs.

CTX's UltraVision™ Panels with Extra-Wide Viewing Angles, High Contrast and Much Faster Response Time
City of Industry, Calif. (March 10, 2003) – CTX International Inc. today announced the general availability of its new PV722E 17-inch and P922E 19-inch P-Series LCD monitors. Both monitors utilize CTX's UltraVision™ panels, which offer higher contrast (up to 500:1 ratio), extra-wide viewing angles (up to 170 degrees, both vertically and horizontally), and faster response time (25 milliseconds). These features translate into much higher performance and image quality for high-end applications such as imaging, design and gaming.
“By introducing our UltraVision panels, CTX continues its tradition of providing its customers with the most advanced display technology on the consumer market,” said Amanda Stringfellow, Marketing Manager at CTX. “Our customers demand high-performance, high-quality products at a value price, and our new UltraVision panels ensure that we meet that demand.”
With the use of the UltraVision™ panel, both the PV722E and P922E are much more stable in their operation due to the elimination of the manufacturing process known as “rubbing.” Simply stated, rubbing refers to the process of aligning the liquid crystal (LC) molecules on the glass display panel during standard LCD manufacturing. The UltraVision™ panel technology uses a different method of alignment that dramatically decreases the possibility of contaminating the LC molecules. The result is display panels that are significantly less likely to have faulty or dead pixels.
For greater flexibility, both monitors support analog and digital (DVI) inputs, and come standard with built-in stereo speakers and a four-port USB 2.0 hub to connect peripherals such as a keyboard, mouse, scanner, PDA or digital camera. Also, the PV722E offers a pivot feature for full‑page portrait orientation of documents, along with Pivot Pro® software to support that functionality.
