PCI-Express is on its way

The introduction of a new PCI Bus architecture, PCI Express, is set to bring established technologies such as AGP Bus, PCI Bus and PC Card to an end. The first motherboards with PCI Express slots were shown at CeBIT 2004 in Hanover. SysKonnect, a specialist in network cards for Gigabit Ethernet, based in Ettlingen, Germany, today announced the introduction of the SK-9E21D, one of the first Gigabit Ethernet adapters for PCI Express. The SK-9E21D incorporates all of the advantages of PCI Express, including high data throughput, low latency, reliability and high scalability, and is designed for use within desktop PC's and workgroup servers.

The SK-9E21D is based on the new serial transmission technology PCI Express. The flexible Gigabit Ethernet adapter supports 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet standards and a wide variety of operating system platforms such as Windows, Solaris, Linux, NetWare and HP-UX. The SK-9E21D adapter complies with PCI Express 1.0a and can operate in x4, x8 and x16 slots. Additionally it includes many important features like PXE support, ASF functionality, parity monitoring on all data paths, TCP segmentation, jumbo frame support. Wake on LAN (WOL) and Multicast support or Hot Plug.
