Quick Installation Guide: Window
Kit
- Remove materials from boxes, and clear an area
to work with the appropriate tools.
- Decide on the actual size of your window, and
the shape.
- Do lots of measuring and draw your line-of-cut
on the case door.
- Whip out a drill and make a pilot hole, if you
are using a jigsaw, that is.
- Use the jigsaw (or whatever) to cut out your design.
I recommend you use relief cuts around the corners. Relief means go from the
center, to make "sections" that you will cut out with the jigsaw.
- Smooth the corners with a Dremel, or metal chissle.
- Get out the window trim, and start putting it
around the edge of the case. There is no special adhesive with this stuff,
but it does a great job of staying on. When the molding comes to the end,
be sure not to cut too much off, this would be a bad thing.
- Lie the door on something flat, and figure out
the path for the silicon sealant. Be generous with this stuff, also I recommend
you do not sniff it…’tis nasty smelling stuff :)
- Press the window down upon the sealant, and use
clamps or something heavy to keep the pressure down. If you use heavy stuff,
place some rags over the Lexan so it doesn’t get scratched.
- Let it dry in that position for at least and hour,
then it is ok to move around. However, I recommend letting it cure for 24
hours before any more work is done with it.
- Place your door back on the old rig, and enjoy
your new window. Questions and comments can be sent to cole_NOSPAM@directron.us (remove _NOSPAM manually).
