Good luck, and stay safe over there! Most of my friends in Houston have already left as of two days ago, while a few are hunkered down on the west side...
Ars Technica wishes everyone well... we're all watching what's happening!

Lee called when we were putting the film up. They got to Lake Charles yesterday. But Rita seems to be "chasing" them. They left Lake Charles this morning, going North in Lousiana. They almost run out of gas on a country road. Luckily they met some local folks, who took them into their house. The southern people are nice, aren't they? So they are safe now, but no idea where to get some gas to come back to Houston after the storm. Well, let's not worry about that until Saturday night after Rita passes.
He does not know the status of Jacob. I am concerned for him. Jacob is traveling with his 1-year old baby and his wife is 7month pregnant. I haven't been able to call him. According to Lee, Jacob left Lake Charles around 3am, but they lost contact to each other.
Anthony got online. He drove about 150 miles in 14 hours yesterday trying to go to Ketucky. Now he is home. He parked his car in a car garage on the third floor. He lives about 5 minutes from our office. I asked him to go to our office if he does not feel safe to stay at home.
Peter, buyer for Axiontech, is staying in Houston. He just messaged me that he was helping a friend boarding up a house.
Well, Sunny just asked me to go swimming with him. Hey, let's do that now before the arrival of Rita. Since we are stuck here, we may as well enjoy it.

You guys take care over there.
Mike...you're a machine.
greeting from the east.
you guys are very calm. take care. this may be silly, but in case of flood, don't forget to pull the plug (well, if there is still power supply).
god bless
Here is my new house.
My husbands - Adam spent whole morning to board our main windows and front door. I hope we will be safe tonight.

mona, I knew you will stay. that was a great job for the boarding. now it's a well-protected building. but the dish standing on the roof will be a wind-collector. any idea?

It's nice to know Mona and her family are safe and didn't suffer the long hours of parking on the freeway yesterday. I hope all is good tonight too.
Sunny and I did went swimming. Here is a pic to prove it. You can see the two palm trees that I'll use as a marker to measure the strength of the wind.
After swimming, I took the van back to the office to switch it with the other car I left there.

On the side of the pool, a butterfly had a hard time landing on the flowers because the flowers are waving around because of the wind.
I have never taken a pic of the butterfly so close before.

Cops are ready for doing their jobs! They must be having a meeting there otherwise why we need three cops in the same spot?

| Michael | Posted 23/05 19:02 |
I got to the office. Peter is already there. Here is one of his four dogs. It's really a mean looking one and sounded mean too.

| Michael | Posted 23/05 19:04 |
Here are two more friendly ones.

| Michael | Posted 23/05 19:05 |
Here is a little, but very mean-looking one.

| Michael | Posted 23/05 19:09 |
You may wonder what good the dogs would do? Well, their collective balk was really loud. That sure would scare any bad elements away.
Besides dogs, Pete also brought his guns and bullets. Real ones!

| Michael | Posted 23/05 19:10 |
Hey, gamers, these are real things! Hopefully Peter does not need to use them.

| Michael | Posted 23/05 19:12 |
He said he also has machine guns but I didn't see them. But I saw these big bullets.
Actually, I am sure we'll be just fine. Again, Houston is no New Orleans!!!

For those who are concerned about the well being of the grand pa and grand ma, here is their car parked inside the warehouse! They were planning to stay inside the office to weather the storm. As I was explaining to them that we are not coming, they felt they don't need to stay either. So they went back to their house.

| Michael | Posted 23/05 19:16 |
Pete will have a fun time watching the TV in our showroom tonight. It turns out that he and his sisters are the only ones who are staying there. The other families decided to stay at their homes.

| Michael | Posted 23/05 19:18 |
They will sleep on the sofa tonight!

it's nice to talk to grand ma and grandpa earlier today... i a mso proud that all of you are so calm... best wish to you all!!!

On the way back from the office at around 4pm, Rita starts to show on the sky.

And, as always, you can post a question on the Directron Help Desk! (Steven092805)
