ATA 66 IDE Ribbon Cable18-inch ATA66 IDE ribbon cable for your ultra DMA 66 hard drives and motherboards. OEM in individual plastic bags. ATA 66 cables have 40-pin connectors but with 80 cables (wires). This cable also works as ATA100. Life-time warranty. Suggested retail price: $19+tax.Specifications: Three connectors for up to two devices. It has 80 wires but 39 pins (one blocked), which makes it backward compatible with the DMA33 IDE cables. Yes, that means this cable will work with an old ATA33 hard drive/motherboard/CD ROM. Check the IDE connector on your motherboards. Ensure that it has 39 pins instead of 40. If it has 40, this cable may or may not work with your motherboard. The connectors are color-coded for ATA66. The blue connector is for the motherboard. The middle, gray one must be connected to the master hard drive. The black, end one is for a slave drive if there is one. PVC coated. Color of the ribbon cable itself: gray and slightly green. Notes (1) Ultra DMA 66 hard drives will work with a DMA 33 controller; however, to take advantage of the DMA66 speed, you must use a DMA66 controller and DMA66 cable. Works with hard drives, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW drives. (2) All new ATA66-capable motherboards should already come with one ATA66 IDE cable. However, a second IDE cable is recommended if you have more than one IDE device. (3) ATA-66 cable could be run at ATA-100 as long as the length is 18 inch or less. (4) We recommend to use the ATA33 IDE cable for devices such as CD-ROM, DVD, and CD-RW drives. (5) Directron.com has a $10 minimum-order requirement. You may select other <$10 items to meet the requirement. (6) ATA 66/100 cables should also work for ATA133 but we don't guarantee it.
