The RM4000 is perfect for providing server storage that requires high-capacity external RAID server storage. Choose the RM4000 when capacity needs are minimal and price is critical. SKU# 848551. Features: Provides local and remote access to Promise RAID controller and storage subsystem via TCP/IP network; Creates, deletes, expands, and converts disk arrays remotely; Array synchronization and rebuild scheduling; Displays drive and array status; Monitors enclosure status and provides online event logging; Provides email notifications of disk, array, controller or enclosure events such as error or degrade conditions; HTML-based graphical user interface ensures cross-platform consistency. Onboard RAID Controller: Hardware RAID, onboard RISC processor with 128MB cache memory for RAID operations and data cache, cache data can be protected through optional battery backup, RAID transactions are written to nonvolatile FRAM to ensure data integrity. SCSI Interface: Ultra160 SCSI (host adapter required), maximum transfer rate 160MB/s. Data Handling Features: Supports using variable stripe block sizes for application efficiency, advanced data handling algorithms, tagged command queuing and elevator seeks enable SCSI level performance. Array Creation: Supports multiple logical arrays per system; push button-operated setup with text-based LCD display, or available through PAM GUI software, locally or remotely. Online Array Expansion: Allows adding drives to array on-the-fly to increase storage capacity without restarting RAID subsystem or losing data. Online RAID Level Conversion: Permits changing RAID levels on-the-fly without restarting RAID subsystem or losing data. Array Management Tools: LCD; serial port or in-band SCSI using PAM.
