SHEX: Viewing an SWF File.
I admit that I don't know much about flash stuff.
As we're receiving more flash banners in the .swf format under our graphic programs, I had difficulty viewing the files. I have the HTML codes to show the images; however, it's not that convenient. I downloaded the latest Flash and Shockwave players, but could still not view the files easily.
I decided to do a search for resources on the web on this topic. After a few searches and site-visiting, I "discovered" the easiest trick:
Drag and drop the SWF file into a browser window. That SWF file becomes alive and viewable, right away. What a time saver!
Thank you, the Internet.

SWF files and HTML
I use Swish to make some flash banners. Swish is a flash program that does cool stuff with type and its easier to use than flash.
I consider myself faily good at writting code but find flash very difficult. I was trying to learn it to see if I could get a web design job and becuase I studied Graphic art in school and college. (see if I can spell college?)
Swish can make a piece of HTML code that tells the swf file how to play and where to find the file. Click on the HTML file with the same name as the SWF file and the HTML file will load the flash file. Enclosed are some tutorial examples.
IE: Root Directron Banners sample file.
http://geocities.com/websuspect/Directron_Banners/
Select HTML file (my favorite Directron Cow)
http://geocities.com/websuspect/Directron_Banners/Directron_Cow.html
The HTML file will play automatically the swf file at proper size.
http://geocities.com/websuspect/Directron_Banners/Directron_Cow.swf (not proper size.)
Select the html file. Right click view source from HTML file.
http://geocities.com/websuspect/Directron_Banners/Directron_Cow.html
The source is between object and object.
The HTML code that tells the location of the file is here.
src="Directron_Cow.swf"
Copywrite information and passwords can be added to Flash files and info.
If you want to grab a customer file or any file off the net you can use Gozilla. Gozilla has spyware so you can just download adaware and it removes the spyware. Select download file in Gozilla. Gozilla can also be used to grab ISOs off the internet to burn UNIX CDs. Enter cut paste source URL. (universal request listing.)
Example. http://geocities.com/websuspect/Directron_Banners/Directron_Cow.swf
Also the Flash player you mentioned is good. It will open a flash file at the designed size and play it. Internet Explorer will play the file at an undetermined size. To open a file with flash player simpley click on the SWF file.
Theres this guy I know that works for IBM. I wonder if I could bash his skillz. I would love to know what he does.
Hmm anyway its not what you know.
Its who you know.
Remember if you get mad at windows that leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering.
And, as always, you can post a question on the Directron Help Desk! (by121404)
