Wireless/Cordless Peripherals There are two types of wireless technologies for PC peripherals: Infrared (IR) based on optical principle and radio frequency (RF) based on wave principle. IR is cheaper, has less interference, but requires direct optical contact between the peripheral and receiver. RF works in all angles relative to the receiver, even with objects between the peripheral and receiver, but it is more expensive.
