Everything came exactly as ordered, and very quickly too. I had reservations about ordering from them with only one on-line review at http://www.resellerratings.com (They'll have at least two now!), but they had the parts I needed in stock at a great price. The shipping was also very reasonable. They sent order updates and my UPS tracking number via e-mail (much appreciated!). I would not hesitate to order from them again.

I got all the items I requested, but they charged me $9.95 on $10 worth of items. The shipping charges were not displayed until after the order had been placed. Then, it took 7 days (5 business days) to get the items....exactly WHAT did I pay almost $10 in shipping for????

First time ordering through Directron and everything went very smooth. Very competetive prices and fair shipping and handling (unlike some other online vendors), rest assured - I will be ordering from them again in the future. It seems like this company puts in that extra effort to make sure that their customers are served and happy, that alone will keep me coming back.

First, The way your evaluation choices are worded is subjective and over-simplified. As with all things technical and/or involving human beings, there are many opportunities for individuals and enterprises to shine or to lack luster.
This was the case with my order from Directron. I was not given enough topics to make choices in, so I chose the only one that covered all the bases generally.
On the plus side:
(1) at the end of the day, I was able to purchase components to build myself a USB CD-ROM Drive that is a better product that runs at a faster speed (48X Read) than anything I have seen on the market period - let alone dor the price;
(2) I saved at least $150.00 over what I would have paid to buy something comparable off the shelf retail, and everything I saw retail would have to have been connected to my parallel port rather than to one of my available USB ports, which would have resulted in me ending up buying a data switch and additional cable for the parallel port in order to switch between my printer and the drive (and what if I needed to print while using the drive?, etc.), which would have made the off-the-shelf retail item even more expensive; and
(3) when I did have a problem setting up my device, Mike in your tech support department knew exactly what my problem was, which I helped create by not calling tech support when one of the driver discs I received had no driver on it, and the other driver disc really messed up Windows '98 on my computer, requiring me to do a full software recover on my computer, a process that took me an additional hour, but which was not Mike's fault. Mike's patience and guidance, as well as the tech support department's trouble resolution system should be commended, given the size of directron's inventory and the number of technically lacking people who generally call tech support departments just to "climb Mount Anger." (can you tell that I used to work at a help desk?).
On the minus side:
(1) UPS - Both Directron and UPS encouraged me to track my package's progress online. On the day on which delivery was anticipated, the on-line system at UPS said that my package was at a facility about 1 mile away from my home at 5:45 a.m. EST - when I called to talk to a warm body at about 10:00 A.M. that morning, I was told my package would be delivered by 7:00 P.M. that day. I was also told that I could not inquire further as to the progress of delivery until after 7:00 P.M. I remained at my place of business/residence from 10:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. and the package was not delivered that day. It was very disconcerting. It the took me 45 minutes and much bumping up on my insistance just to get the local telephone number for the UPS facility 1 mile away from my house (the number is not listed or posted with directory assistance). Also, Then at around 8:00 P.M. a UPS rep at the location told me that, in fact, the scanning information showing on UPS's web site was not co!

rrect and that my package had been scanned to go to that location but was not actually there. I was also told that I had no right to complain about this because Directron, and not me, was UPS's customer. This to me is outrageous, since I am ultimately paying for the shipping and, based on the foregoing, I was unsatisfied with the service I was receiving. I have requested that Directron attempt to convince UPS to credit me back some of the shipping charges, but as yet I have received no definitive response one way or the other - Which I am also disatisfied with and which qualifies as (2) on the minus side.
(3) The product was shipped with Directron apparently knowing IN ADVANCE that the driver disc in the package was not antiquated (in my case there was no driver on the disc at all). Directron could put instructions on or in the package or e-mail the customer in advance warning that a driver will have to be downloaded - Mike in tech support knew what my problem was almost immediately, which tells me that Directron knew of the potential problem. This would have saved me an hour or more of aggravation.
To conclude, I would still probably order from Directron again, but if any of the above minuses or their equivalents occurred again, particularly the UPS business, I will not do so thereafter. Also, I am still waiting to find out for certain one way or the other if I will get any credit for the shipping problem from UPS via Directron. If I don't ever hear back, Directron will probably not hear back from me.

The item was not competible with my printer, even though their web site said so. I have the e-mail from the Canon tech support people to prove it. They said they copied the info from somewhere else and I can returned the item. Then I did not receive full refund for the items(not to mention I still paid for the shipping). Call back, and the guy pushed all responsibility to me and Canon. I would not recommended this company at all.
